Orlando Lifestyle

What is the Orlando Lifestyle?

Fun is definitely at the top of the list when it comes to living in Orlando. There is so much to do, so much going on and the great weather obviously helps. When you first arrive in Orlando it takes a while to brush aside the vacation mentality. Let’s face it with over 50 million smiling faces coming here every year it is difficult not to get caught up in things.

After a while the theme parks tend to disappear into the background of daily life. Like the sun they will be there everyday and you can always visit tomorrow. Everyone is different and I guess it depends on their mindset, but eventually reality kicks in and although Orlando may be the world’s playground it becomes your office of sorts.

Orlando City is home to only 250,000 residents but the Orlando Metropolitan area is home to over 2 million. Add a further 50 million tourists and visitors and all of a sudden you have plenty of people and in season plenty of traffic. During the summer months when the humidity level is close to 100% it pays to have a relaxed attitude, allow plenty of time to get to your destination and when you get there, make a dash for cover and that blast of the A/C as you walk through the door.

Regardless of where you live in the world the mundane things which pay the bills have to be taken care of and there is ample opportunity in the Orlando area to work  in many different sectors. As I have mentioned previously Orlando is not just a tourist city, it is home to a great deal of industry, manufacturing and tech plus it is becoming a center for entrepreneurs and investors.

Among Orlando’s most important industry sectors outside of tourism are high technology which represents over 100 companies, aviation and aerospace, film and television production, over 500 life sciences and biotechnology companies, warehousing, distribution  and over 2,200 manufacturing companies.

Day to Day Life

Orlando attracts a different kind of resident and tourist to places like Miami. Here things are more family orientated and although you may see some flashy cars, the Lamborghini and Ferrari drivers are more likely to be on South Beach than International Drive. Orlando offers the wealthy an opportunity to blend in with the crowd so that they can act and behave like everyone else. The demand for attention, the necessity of being in the starlight and making the front page of a glossy magazine is not as dominant here. Although your kids may prefer to get in front of the paparazzi, as parents most of you will prefer that they live a more ‘sensible’ life.

Many residents try and get outside most days either before or after work whether it be for a walk or a bike ride, whilst weekends are reserved for boating, fishing, golf and trips to the mall when you have more available time. Even so many workers and business people enjoy lunch with friends or colleagues during the week. Whichever part of Orlando you are in, you will find ample opportunity to indulge in your whims.

Orlando is recognised as the entertainment capital of the world and as big as that title may be, it lives up to its name.

Throughout the year Orlando hosts many sporting events, concerts, shows, events and galas with which to fill your calendar. Regardless of your likes and preferences you will be able to find something which ticks your box.

There are many excellent restaurants which cater for all tastes. The cultural diversity which thrives in Central Florida means you can eat on just about any type of food from around the world. Of course there are thousands of franchised restaurants which cater to the masses, but if you want something different all you have to do is find some of the fine private family run restaurants and bistros where you can indulge yourself.
